Colonel Benjamin Ingram
U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine
Colonel Benjamin Ingram is the incoming Commander of the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine.
Colonel Ingram is from Sumter, South Carolina. He is a graduate of The Citadel, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He attended medical school through the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. He then completed his Family Medicine Residency at Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center and a Tri-Service Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Colonel Ingram is also a graduate of the Naval War College with a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.
Colonel Ingram has served in a variety of key assignments, including Brigade Surgeon for the 41st Field Artillery Brigade in Grafenwoehr, Germany, where he led the medical response for Task Force Tower Barracks during the COVID-19 pandemic. He served as the United States Corps of Cadets Surgeon at West Point, where he was also the Officer in Charge of the Mologne Cadet Health Clinic and founded the West Point Concussion Care Program. He deployed to Iraq in 2009-2010 with the 14th Combat Support Hospital. In his most recent assignment, he served as the Medical Advisor and Director of the Joint Medical Branch for the NATO Special Operations Forces Command (SOFCOM) in Mons, Belgium.
His awards and honors include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Air Assault Badge, Distinguished Military Service Award from the Medical University of South Carolina Alumni Association, the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara, and the David Hooker Soldier Physician Award from his residency.
Benjamin is married to his wife Patricia (Trisha), with whom he shares two daughters.
