USARIEM Pikes Peak High Altitude Research Laboratory, Pikes Peak, Colorado
The High Altitude Research Laboratory is a one-of-a-kind, Department of Defense-supported medical research laboratory located at the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado. This laboratory is one of the core capabilities of the USARIEM high altitude research, which provides military solutions, such as: acclimatization approaches, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, technology and more, to optimize U.S. Warfighter health and performance during operations in high altitude environments. The 3,000 square foot facility is located on the summit of Pikes Peak, at an altitude of 4,300 meters or 14,110 ft above sea level. The HARL consists of a 1,147 square foot laboratory space, as well as a dormitory and kitchen for long-term studies, lasting weeks to months.
