Volunteer for a sleep and nutrition study!
What is this study about?
To determine the relationships between diet, nutrition status, sleep, and immune function
Why Participate?
- The information from this study will be used to help develop future nutrition strategies to improve immune health and reduce common cold risk in cadets.
- You will be compensated up to $100 for participating in this study (for blood draws).
Who Can Participate?
- At least 17 years of age
- Willing to listen to study briefing (15 min)
- Willing and able to participate in study procedures:
- Wear a watch that measures your sleep at the beginning and end of the study.
- Attend two data collection sessions (~30 minutes each; at the beginning and end of the study), where you will: provide blood and saliva samples, complete questionnaires on your demographics, mood, dietary intake, and sleep, have your height measured, and have your body weight and body composition measured.
- Complete on-line questionnaires on your dietary intake (~20 minutes, at the beginning and end of the study) and your experiences with the common cold (~5 minutes, every two weeks during the study).
- Allow a study investigator (USMA faculty member) access to your ACFT score and academic records.
- Allow a study investigator (Keller Community Hospital Dietitian) access to your medical records to assess common cold diagnoses.
