How long have you been at the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine?

I have been with USARIEM for 2.5 years.

How did you become interested in Soldier Nutrition and Performance?

I came to USARIEM to take as the Executive Officer (XO). The XO position is an operational position necessary for career progression. I'm an inorganic chemist that has focused on chemical warfare agent detection and countermeasures during my time in the Army.

What projects are you currently working on?

The XO is chief of the research support division (RSD). RSD provides all the support to enable research at USARIEM. The functions include human resources, security, operations, logistics, information management, finance, facilities, safety and public affairs.

What aspects of your job do you love and find most gratifying?

There is a high degree of randomness to the job due to the number of areas that fall under RSD.

When you are not at the Institute, what do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy hikes with my dog, family trips, escape rooms and strategy games.
